Acupuncture

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), a medical system that has been developing over the last 3,000 years. It is designed to:

  • Diagnose and treat illness
  • Improve overall health
  • Prevent disease

It utilizes the movement of Qi (pronounced “chee”) or Life Force Energy within the body. When this movement is unimpeded, one is healthy. Without this harmonious flow, illness can begin.

Does it hurt?

When done correctly, acupuncture does not hurt most people. There are normal sensations- mild ache, tingling or heaviness.

What about the needles?

All of the needles that we use are sterile, single use needles.  They are disposed of after every treatment.  They are very fine, and as such, do not prick.

What happens on the first visit?

Your first visit begins with a diagnostic consultation to discuss your health concerns and health history. It is followed by an acupuncture treatment, lasting approximately 45 minutes.
